How Pet Owners Can Combat Pet Mess

Mar 6, 2019

Your homeowner’s insurance will not protect you or provide financial compensation if your cats or dogs scratch the doors and window sills. As a pet owner, it’s up to you to be proactive and find ways to combat pet messes and pet destruction. You need to protect your home and stop the damage.

Losing renter’s security deposits and having to replace doors and other items your beloved pets destroyed is stressful (and costly) for everyone!

3 Simple Ways To Curb Your Pet's Mess

Here are five home projects pet owners can take on to help combat the messes and destruction their pets cause.

Fur. Depending on the breed of dog you share your life with and how many cats are in residence, your home could be a fur-covered mess! Because we love our pets, we live with lint brushes close at hand and we know that during “seasonal shedding” times we will be vacuuming frequently. To help combat fur, brush your dog regularly. Change the air filters in your furnace or air purifier frequently to eliminate pet dander. Dust off hard surfaces with a dust cloth that will pick up fur and dander, not just push it around.

Odors. Let’s face it -- pets smell! Whether your dog smells like, well, dog or your cat’s litter box is continually smelly, you need to find a way to combat pet odors. To rid the house of cat litter box stench, use a litter that combats odors and clean the litter box at least once a day. If your dog’s fur smells he may require frequent grooming to keep him smelling fresh. You can also use pet-friendly cleaners and odor removers to combat the smells your dog brings in with him.

Scratching and chewing. This is the worst “mess” that your dog or cat can make in the house. If your dog is scratching the door when you leave him home alone he risks injury to his paws and your door will need repair or replacement. If your cat claws your new couch because he’s bored or because you don’t have enough scratching posts, you may find yourself having to replace the couch -- only to have your cat destroy it again!

CLAWGUARD door shields were invented because our rescue dog destroyed many doors in the apartments we rented and we found out our renter’s insurance didn’t cover damage the dog caused. We lost our security deposits many times.

Cats also scratch doors, floors, window sills and claw couches. To protect our furniture and your home we developed a unique line of furniture shields to protect the home and stop the damage cats clawing can cause.

Our door shields can be installed to protect the door in only two steps! Our furniture shields only take two steps to install and protect the furniture.

We love our pets, we just don’t love the damage they cause and the messes they create. Be proactive to protect your home -- since your homeowner’s insurance won’t protect you from dog damage.

CLAWGUARD builds shields that help protect homes from dog damage and cat damages. Products include door shields, couch guards, and universal protective tape that protects commonly scratched areas like window sills, furniture, banisters, weatherstripping and more.  Check us out on Amazon and read our many FIVE STAR reviews!
